About Me
Hello there. I’m Emily Love, a licensed certified social worker–clinical (LCSW–C), with a private practice based in Baltimore. I’m a therapist because, in times of stress, therapy has been a life-changing experience for me. I am here to offer the same hope and opportunity to others. I’ve been working as a therapist and counselor for more than 25 years now.
The prospect of seeking and starting therapy can be overwhelming. I guarantee privacy, compassion, and guidance to ease the process. My ultimate aim is to encourage and collaborate with you—to understand and to offer you support, relief, and the insight and tools to discover new possibilities.
I provide individual therapy for children, adolescents, and adults as well as couples sessions. Please see my What I Offer page for more perspective on what I do and how I might be able help you.
Background
In 1995, I graduated from the University of Maryland School of Social Work with a master’s degree. From there, I worked for eight years at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in the inpatient child and adolescent psychiatric unit as well as The Johns Hopkins University psychiatry outpatient clinic. I spent the next eight years serving as an upper school counselor at the Friends School of Baltimore, before going to work at Jewish Community Services in Baltimore, delivering therapy in a community mental health center. In 2013, I started my own private practice. I have worked deeply with many people of varied backgrounds and paths, which continues to humble and encourage me as a therapist.
I am a certified group fitness instructor and, in my free time, teach a variety of classes. I also enjoy studying body-positive, nuanced approaches to nutrition and health.
